Great Seats for the Utes Game!

I recently heard about the experience deal the ticket office was doing for the University of Utah basketball games. I thought this was to good a deal to pass up. With the economy the way it is, I really have had to cut down on how many basketball games I am able to go to. I basically have had to choose what I want to see. First and foremost, I am a football fan, so I couldn't give up my football season tickets. Quite frankly I wish the football season were longer. But the lack of an income has meant less Jazz and Utes basketball if I want to keep my football tickets.

Cory Meyer hooked us up with some sweet seats for the Air Force game last Saturday. I don't live in Salt Lake, so it's a little hard to make it up to games, especially if they aren't on Saturdays. So I picked that game, knowing full well that Air Force is terrible. So I didn't expect a close exciting game, but that didn't matter to me. I really was just looking to see the Utes in person for the first time this year. Obviously the exciting games can be more fun, but I just enjoy being at the Huntsman Center watching basketball.

This was also my first opportunity to take my wife to a game. She is an NBA basketball fan, and had never been to a college game before. To be honest, she had fun, but I could tell she got a little bored towards the end of the game. I think the pace of college basketball is too slow for her. But I think she really liked the seats. We were really close to the action. Having sat at the top alot I believe there is no bad seat at the Huntsman, but these seats were great.

I thought the game was great. A win is always good. I love seeing Boylen up off the bench yelling, and I think we have a great group of young players. I think the game was a little more exciting than I remember in the previous few years when they would just pound the ball down to Nevill. They seem more up tempo and exciting.

I had really forgotten how much fun I had at Utes games. When I was in college there, I was in the MUSS and rarely missed games. Now living in Utah County makes it more difficult. But going to the game really got me back into the spirit of Utes basketball.

I don't know how many more games I'll get to before the season is over, but I'm going to try to go to one or two more. Once my income is more steady I will definitely get some ticket packages going.

Personally for me, I don't really care about non-conference schedule, even if they bring in good teams. I really care about the conference rivalries and the conference tournament. I actually really was glad I saw them play Air Force, and I would have rather seen that than Michigan or Oklahoma or LSU.

I understand the recent problems with getting people to the games, and I wish I were more of a solution than part of the problem. But I am thinking about Utes basketball more often now, and I really hope to get down to Vegas this year to support them, and once I get a job, I'll be going to more games for sure. Go Utes!
